White Sands, NW
Before the sun rose we made our way from the little town of Alamogordo 15 miles west to White Sands. The feeling there is surreal. Everything from the cool sand to the desolate location gives you the sensation that you're on another planet.
Travel Tip: If you arrive before the park rangers open the ticket booth the park is free!
Sedona, Az
This little town tucked between the rocky hills and the flat arid desert of Arizona is full of adventure and scenery literally everywhere you turn. We planned to spend half a day there which was a big mistake given it's famous red rock hills that resemble something closer to an art piece.
Travel Tip: While you're out exploring the area take road 89A from Flagstaff to Sedona. It's winding path down a canyon provides amazing views of the red rock formations and pine trees.
